My life-long love affair with photography began when I was a 10-year-old with an Instamatic camera. It was gifted to me by my dad, who liked to shoot 8mm home movies of our family vacations, our cross-country moves, and the many National Parks we visited. I will forever be grateful that Dad felt it important to seek out beautiful places and encourage me as a photographer. I never stopped traveling and shooting. I also got pretty good at editing and splicing all of those home movies. At 19, after my first visit to Mt. Tamalpais in West Marin, California, I scrambled home to Sacramento and obtained my first 35mm camera. That's cool that your mother was born in Bisbee. She probably grew up when copper was still mined there. The mines shut down in the mid-70's and the town has been evolving. Now it's a historic Main Street City. Lots of hills and stairs, for sure! I enjoyed living there.
