Hi... amazed to find a phone case with this design! When I first found these cast iron pillars, I too was convinced they were OS Benchmarks. After a lot of research, however, they are definitely NOT benchmarks, but GPO (General Post Office) cable junction box markers. I've got a bit addicted to the things and have created a site dedicated to documenting and mapping them: https://gpo-markers.derektp.co.uk I think I have another photo of this marker, also just identified as "A6, Cumbria" but haven't pinned down the location. If you know more precisely, I'd love to hear from you!
