Peggy Lee, born (May 26, 1920 to January 21, 2002) was an American jazz and popular music singer, songwriter, composer and actress, in a career spanning six decades. From her beginning as a vocalist on local radio to singing with Benny Goodman's big band, she forged a sophisticated persona, evolving into a multi-faceted artist and performer. She wrote music for films, acted, and created conceptual record albums encompassing poetry, jazz, chamber pop, and art songs. Lee was born Norma Deloris Egstrom in Jamestown, North Dakota, the seventh of eight children of Marvin Olof Egstrom, a station agent for the Midland Continental Railroad, and his wife Selma Amelia (Anderson) Egstrom. She and her family were Lutherans. Her father was Swedish American and her mother was Norwegian American. Her mother died when Lee was just four years old. Jerome L. Vaden is an international watercolor artist whose professional art career spans more than 30 years. He has participated in the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver for the first five years, and was featured in a one-man 30-day art exhibit in the Town Hall of Littleton, Colorado. These are just two of the many exhibits where his unique displays are presented with the theme of the artwork. Because of his love of music, he created the original playbill It AinĂ¯t Nothin But The Blues, for the Denver Center for Performing Arts Theatre; the play was nominated for a Tony Award in 1999.
