The glass work of Louis Comfort Tiffany and Associates was wildly popular in Victorian times, and has remained so since. The elaborately crafted Tiffany colors and patterns appealed to the fashionable Victorians' sense of drama. It was one way to express themselves in a society with rigid rules and expectations. Here, a riot of Tiffany dragonflies cavorts on a field of sparkling blue wildflowers, bordered by lace with an intricate nature scheme. On both, the edges are lightly gilded. The underlying background is a rainbow of subtly shifting, shimmering color. This painting does not contain any photographic elements.
