Preening White Ibis by HH Photography of Florida.
An afternoon shaft of sunlight spotlights this preening American White Ibis (Eudocimus albus) as it stands in the grass beside a local pond. The White Ibis is a coastal dweller and can be found from Virginia, south to Florida and around the Gulf coast to Texas. They are frequently seen in small flocks or singularly, pecking in the grass or searching coastal shorelines. Photographed in west central Florida.
