Description
A Pukeko is a wetland dwelling bird native to New Zealand and also called Pooks, swamp hen, and by hunters, the blue pheasant. Quite a cheeky bird, they can be friendly and territorial at the same time. The fine blue feathers have been used in fly-tying night fishing lures and also woven into Maori cloaks for their brilliant colour. This is a section of a previous study of a Pukeko as a monotype with watercolour.
