Description
This piece came from a place an experimentation with colors. Typically, I don’t like to use gold, green, and purple in the same piece. I wanted to see if I could use these and not make mud colors in the process. I got my pallet knife out and started playing with one color at a time. As the piece progressed, I would add more color and then take that color up into the prior color … but not too much. Then I got to purple. As you see, it’s directly below the green. Easy to create mud with these if I was not careful. I used minimal strokes and the outcome is lovely! The purple and green have totally worked and the colors transition beautifully. This reminds me of a city street right after the rain. Empty streets. Echoing streets. No people and no cars. Reminds me somewhat of what we’re currently going through in our world with the COVID-19 pandemic. The cities and streets are almost empty, and everything feels ghost-like. I created this one several months ago (late last fall), before the coronavirus was even a thought in anyone’s mind. This piece reminded me of a peaceful scene. Now it reminds me just how empty everything is. I still love this one, but it has taken on a new dimension for me. It means something completely different.
