This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

I have wanted this for my pro life bulletin board at my Catholic Church and I wasn’t disappointed. It is beautiful and it has so much meaning put in a picture. A picture speaks better then words and this picture says it all. Thanks
Artist's Description
First flown August 7, 1963, the YF12 was a two seat interceptor version of the secret A-12 reconnaissance aircraft then operated by the CIA. Fitted with the Hughes AN/ASG-18 fire-control radar and armed with AIM-47 Falcon (GAR-9) air-to-air missiles, it was. intended to be a potential replacement for the F-106 Delta Dart. On May 1, 1965, two different YF-12A aircraft set a speed record of 2,070.101 miles per hour and an altitude record of 80,257.86 feet. For their speed record flight, Col. Robert L. About Mark Karvon
Prints of all artworks are available at www.markkarvon.com. All artworks are copyright Mark Karvon. As a kid in the suburbs of Chicago, I always was interested in the mechanical creations of man. And the stories of the incredible experiences of the men who operated those machines are the stuff of legends and sometimes nightmares. From an early age I tried to express my fascination through drawing. I suppose my first...

Really great, Mark, as always. Interesting white cross on the bottom of that jet...I suppose for photography purposes? I hadn't seen that before on these.
Mark Karvon replied:
Thank you Douglas. I believe the cross was for tracking purposes when it was going for the record. I thought it would add interest. I hadn't seen any artwork of the YF-12A which had that marking.
