I absolutely love this photo of Hazel. My first visit to the Smoky Mountains was in April 2017. I have been searching for a black bear photo for years and this one stole my heart. This beautiful girl was photographed the same year. I am very pleased with the canvas print!!

Great canvas and framing. A decent shipping time, and EXCEPTIONAL safe packaging. Just an appropriate image for my viewing/listening room. Just took the speaker grills off for this photo.
Artist's Description
Because of the very simple nature of a single tulip, I felt that it wouldn't work well against my very simple dark backgrounds that I have been experimenting with lately. I decided to try something interesting and split the background diagonally. In this way I was able to incorporate my dark background and create some additional interest with the addition of a seemingly undulating sea of gray/green foliage. I think it really makes the tulip stand out. Let me know what you think in the comments! The original painting is 6.75"x10.5" in size and is painted with Rublev, Winsor & Newton, and Daniel Smith watercolor paints on an Arches 140# cold-pressed substrate.

Excellent simplicity Ken. Good stuff!

Thank you William! It was tough to come up with a decent composition that would work with such a simple flower.

Dynamic composition, love the variety of the detailed leaf work at the bottom as opposed to the simplicity of the flower. Good color combo, too!

A fabulous piece of watercolor painting, Ken! Love the soft hues of the colors and the striking red popping in the center. A beautifully done piece!
Ken Powers replied:
Thank you Randy! I don't find tulips too interesting so I was experimenting with some way to make the subject a bit more lively.
