I noted that the color came out differently on this size of bag, it is distinctly more purple. I happen to love that color also--the larger size has perfect color, exactly like the photo. I love both of my bags.

This is a painting with a cooling, calming effect as one considers the teachings of the Buddha and the nature of reality.
This painting and the other three matching paintings are called Sotapanna (1-4). Sotapanna is the first of the four stages of enlightenment, stream-entry. It literally means “one who enters (āpadyate) the stream (sotas),” with the stream being the supermundane Noble Eightfold Path regarded as the highest Dharma. (Wikipedia)
The painting has lots of texture and the Buddha image is carved into the original piece. On either side of the Buddha figure is an unalome symbol – a visual image of reaching enlightenment. The spiraling twists and turns represents our struggle with life, while the straight line pointing upwards, represents the straight path to Enlightenment. Unalome are the “crowns” of the arahants, the enlightened noble ones.
