Today, August 1st, the Lion's Club had its annual fresh corn sale here on the Hawaiian island of Molokai. This year we bought five dozen ears and spent a little time on the tailgate of my pickup shucking them. We had to trim the tops of the ears to remove the worms that were enjoying a little of the sweet corn. After that we usually blanch the cobs in big pots of boiling water for 3 minutes, then we shock them in cold water to stop the cooking. The next step is to take a small serrated knife, remove the corn from the cobs and freeze it for use all year. A lot of work, but well worth it!
