Old Galloping Gertie, thrashed, bashed and trashed herself right into Puget Sound. Bad deck design. It acted like a parasail. Opening holes through the deck plates allows for the gale force winds that sometimes hits the Narrows to blow right on through. Took a lot of money for the engineers to figure that one out. Cars bucked like broncos crossing the Old Galloping Gertie.
