About Kevin Callahan

I produce works in pencil, acrylic, watercolor, found objects, and digital photography. I completed a Painting Intensive at the San Francisco Art Institute, studying with world renown Israeli artist Larry Abramson and at at the Ox-Bow School of the Art Institute Chicago under Phil Hanson and Michelle Grabner. I earned my BFA from Drake University in Des Moines, IA. My studies included an emphasis in painting and printmaking. This is very interesting, and actually quite pretty, I think, Kevin. But there should be a wayward breast or 2 (or more) somewhere! I really enjoy this series of dead people. After dealing with outraged mothers and pet-owners a few times I decided to paint only people who were dead or unknown (including me!). One aspect I like of these is your strong identifiable gesture that definitely identifies the subject with happy and healthy humor ((NOT caricature!).
