The Catch.
At dusk of my life, I lay resting
my weary head on the tear-sopped
pillow, musingly wondering
my rickety life I lived…
“sigh” was the sign!
“Lord!” I said, “part-century passed by
yet lay futile, gazing upward at the empty
cotton clouds, waiting for my
time to come-by - edgily swearing
at the world, as time passed-by.
My never so sober head could hardly
grasp the truth of life like it panned out;
as this little pond-heron patiently sat
waiting for the prospect of her lifetime;
grabs it with her eager long beak
as opportunity swam around
her long elegant legs.
“Lord!” I cried… “Even this little bird
gets her chance to live but me? Why?”
Was my cry; then the voice said -
“Son you are like a horse,
I could only lead you to the water…
but, it’s up to you to drink.
