Description
This image you can find in most Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries at the entrance as a mural or as a thangka. It tells the story of four animals and is a symbol of harmony, cooperation and respect. A bird had a little seed in its mouth. He dropped it and a hare made a small dip in the field to plant the seed. A monkey watered the little plant and the elephant gave it shadow. When the plant became a tree and had a lot of fruit, the animals could not reach the fruit , so they climbed on each others back and shared the food by cooperation in harmony. The elephant was the youngest and the bird was the eldest and in that order they gave each other respect. This is a Jataka story from before the Buddhas life. In western countries it has resemblance with the German Bremer Town Musicians.
