This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

I have wanted this for my pro life bulletin board at my Catholic Church and I wasn’t disappointed. It is beautiful and it has so much meaning put in a picture. A picture speaks better then words and this picture says it all. Thanks
Artist's Description
I found this beauty in a hidden little pocket off the Wakulla River in northwest Florida. A healthy looking younger alligator, about six feet in length, with a sleek and shiny skin was perched on a very large downed cypress tree. I love gators. They are basically living dinosaurs who have evolved perfectly to their environment. They also play a very important role in the swamps and wetlands where they live. Please respect them, and never feed them. Keep them safe.
About Bill Chambers
For me, nature photography started simply as a way to record my adventures and trips so I could revisit them for years to come. What began as an afterthought gradually evolved into a consuming passion. I am very fortunate in that my dad was an avid outdoorsman, and he passed his love for the outdoors along to my brothers and me. I can vividly remember quail hunting with my dad when I was young, trudging along trying to keep up through thick cover on a freezing morning, and I still have great memories of bream fishing with my grandparents and enjoying with them that special time in late afternoon when everything grew still and quiet right before the crickets and frogs erupted into their beautiful night song. Those days are gone forever...

Being that this is a young one at 6ft, its a bit disconcerting to think of what size a full grown adult must be. L,F
Bill Chambers replied:
I very seldom see one larger than 13' or so, and a 13 footer is NOT just twice the size of a 6.5 footer; they are not only longer but also much larger around. However, as long as they haven't been habituated to humans they will still choose to exit the scene quickly if approached. That said, it is not wise to approach one during breeding season as they can become rather territorial during that time. The largest one I've ever seen was around 16', and it dwarfed a 13 footer. That was the only time I've ever felt nervous around a gator, and I was over 30 feet away from it. It was like looking at a dinosaur!
