The print is much darker in person. It looks like an underexposed photo and hard to make out any detail on the bottom half of the print. Paper quality is good. Fast shipping.
Artist's Description
Down by the Old Mill Stream Two is a photograph taken in Algonquin Park near one of the old saw mills that were once in the park. Originally Algonquin park was a logging area they were specifically logging white pine. After hearing of the accounts of what life was like for the men who worked in these camps I decided to take a trip back in time, by putting myself in the head of one of the loggers. I can't imagine how rough it must have been for these gentlemen but I surmised that this stream during the summer was one of their favourite watering holes. I sincerely hope their dreams were realized for as you can imagine the hardships they faced must have been daunting. "Down by the Old Mill Stream is part of the phoetry series the poem below is included with the photograph that inspired it. "Down by the Old Mill Stream" Down by the old mill stream, on hazy late summer days, We had nothing but dreams, about, finding our own ways. Lofty thoughts of building the nation, weren’t on our minds....
About Alan Rutherford
There are little pieces of me in collections around the world, United States, Japan, Holland, and England just to name a few. One of the highlights of my career was being invited to represent my country in the Biennale Internazionale Dell’ Arte Contemporanea 2003 in Florence Italy. I’ve exhibited in numerous shows such as the Toronto Outdoor Exhibition that takes place every summer in Toronto Canada, Art in the Park, Windsor Ontario and various other venues throughout the province of Ontario Canada. My main focus however for the last twenty years or so was my open studio in downtown Toronto, which I recently closed in order to allow myself greater creative freedom. I presently teach children and adults. I love the creative process...
