I am usually not very sentimental, but seeing my old home away from home being torn down is sad. The building has been gutted to its shell and soon what is left will be rubble on the ground. But today, possibly for the last time, I was able to look up at the top floor and see where my office was. It was the best job of my lifetime, and I thank everyone associated with it. As for those pesky pigeons that flocked to the balcony every morning waiting for me to feed them, even they will be missed.
I enjoy photography and writing, and sometimes think of myself as a photojournalist. If there is a story to be told with a photograph, I tell it. As a longtime resident of Washington, DC, a lot of my photographs are of this area, and I enjoy writing in the description something about the shot -- it could be a short statement about an equestrian statue in the middle of a park, or a more intimate tale of the mausoleum where Abraham Lincoln's son, Willie, was entombed for the remaining three years of Lincoln's presidency after the boy's death.
