Description
Part of the temple complex at Chichen Itza, the Temple of Kukulcan is also known as El Castillo. If you showed up there anytime before, say, 1200 AD, it was a totally rockin' establishment.
The original black and white drawing of this was for a Mexico edition of a travel book series I'd done some work on.
Shout out here to Joy O'Meara who commisioned me. Big thanks, newly wed!
Then I colorized it (the original publishing parameters made it grayscale by necessity) and eventually posted it here, with more grandeur-- as the subject matter deserves.

Wow, wonderful drawing Olaf! It is a beautiful architectural rendering! I am sure that this was one of the wonders of the world during its time! V/F

I'm grateful for the attention, Mariola, grateful indeed. This was the capitol of the empire in it's time, center of all sorts of hubbub, ala Washington DC... Although, there's no actual human sacrifices made nowadays in Washington, DC, at least none that they'll admit to.
