Transthyretin blood protein. Molecular model of the thyroid hormone binding protein transthyretin, also known as prealbumin. This is a tetrameric protein, with two protein chains (purple and red) and two binding sites. Transthyretin is found in the blood serum and cerebrospinal fluid, where it transports the thyroid hormone thyroxine (T4) and vitamin A (retinol).
