This piece is very true to it's picture very defined. The cup itself is of fine quality as well. The story behind it was beautiful to read. When I look at it, it will take me back to the first time that I saw and read the story. Glad I took the time to purchase. No regrets!
This Great Blue Heron was doing his very best to blend in and not be seen. I was walking on the path just a short distance from him and we were both in slow motion. He was trying to not be seen by the fish in the water and I was trying to not be noticed by him. It worked for a minute. I'm afraid I ruined his fishing expedition, but I got my shot!
Great Blues are the largest of the North American herons with long legs, a sinuous neck, and thick, daggerlike bill. Their yellow eyes give them a stern look. In flight, they curl their neck into a tight “S” shape, with their legs trailing well beyond the tail. The long wingspan and slow wingbeat make this an easy to identify bird in flight.
Hunting Great Blue Herons wade slowly or stand statue-like, stalking fish and other prey in shallow water or open fields. They actually startle me when they do strike at a fish below with lightning-fast thrust of their neck and head as they stab with their strong bills.
