Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Photo taken of an art installation that is part of the Painted Desert Project. There are several installations, either painted directly or wheat pasted enlargements of old photos that are attached to the sides of abandoned houses, trailers and water tanks along routes 89 and 160 north of Flagstaff and outside of Tuba City.
In the late 1960's I lived on the Chemehuevi Indian Reservation at Havasu Landing, California. I spent most of my time as a desert rat - rummaging around in the Mohave Desert collecting objects that caught my fancy - rocks, cactus wood, fossils, glass, and bits of rusty tin and metal. I began creating assemblages and collages from my desert treasures for friends and family, and eventually sold some of the creations at flea markets and rock shows. I continued my art hobby as I traveled back and forth across the country between Havasu Landing and Maine. Eventually children appeared and a more stable lifestyle was mandated - including a permanent job. All too soon work and children put art aside. About 5 years ago, I decided I wanted to do...
