I noted that the color came out differently on this size of bag, it is distinctly more purple. I happen to love that color also--the larger size has perfect color, exactly like the photo. I love both of my bags.
Looking for gold they found silver. Cursing it and throwing out the " blasted blue stuff" that clogged their rockers, they were casting aside a fortune greater than the gold they were seeking. An assay made on the ores in Nevada City, California in the early spring of 1859, proved to be unbelievably rich in silver as well as gold! The great rush to Washoe was on! In this way miners on Sun Mountain , (later to be christen Virginia City) found out the "blue stuff" was silver. They has struck it rich! From the few stone cabins in 1859, a mining camp grew so fast that in a year it was becoming quite metropolitan in appearance.
Wells Fargo which carried the bullion under guard, kept accurate record. As Thompson and West so aptly put it, stood ever ready on the frontier, and wherever the miner pitched his tent, however broad the desert or rugged the canon, if letters were to be sent or bullion carried, there went the messenger with his pouch and strong box .
