Description
A lazy western river nestled between cliffs with distant mountains and forest under a huge western storm cloud. Its raining somewhere!! The many impressive things that the west has to offer is the vast distance that a person can see. I wanted to convey that in this oil painting. By putting the bluff in the foreground where the viewer is standing looking down and across the river below, you have a sense of the "big sky country". The opposite shore line of the river is covered with ponderosa pines and some scrub pines can be seen in the foreground among the rocks. There are high red rock buttes on the left and purple mountains in the distance. A thunder storm is looming over the buttes, but further off in the distant sky. The right side of the painting is a bright sunlit sky of blue and white. The dramatic contrast of the land in this part of the world is a painter's dream. This painting is protected by copyright.
