Love this duvet cover in the Tree Fort Suite of the Elk View Lodge, Fernie, BC, Canada.
Male Wodaabe dancers performing the Yaake line dance during the annual week-long Guerewol or Gerewol ceremony in Chad, Central Africa. Male suitors perform lengthy dancing and singing rituals to attract the attention of young women whom they impress with their stamina and physical attractiveness. Height, whiteness of eyes and gleaming white teeth are physical attributes that are highly valued. In the Yaake men battle it out for sexual supremacy, hoping to be chosen by one of the female judges, who may take him as her lover. Wodaabe women enjoy sexual freedom and may marry and divorce at will. No stigma is attached to setting aside one's marriage vows at Gerewol, whether temporarily or permanently.
