Michael Sardior is an artist and naturalist living in Portland Oregon. He enjoys life around him and everything that life has to offer. Currently he is still in a lock-down mode not trusting anything coming through the media, and missing so much of what made life wonderful for him. Through his camera he captures the changes in his world and things often missed by our eyes.
His initial formal training in a variety of visual media took place at Glendale Community College in the '70s, and continues today as a study in camera and expression. The common trend of taking many photos and selecting one is shunned by him in favor of capturing the image he wants in one shot. The work of 'editing' is reduced and often many more images are worthy of keeping instead of having thousands of rejected images. His skill in photography, while largely self-taught, is solidly based in traditional tenets of composition, and further honed by freelance work in advertising and publishing.
Michael's subject matter ranges from sacred places to lunar cycles; from portraits of people and animals to studies of insects and plants; from celebrations of light and beauty to lamentations of enslavement.
As an accomplished artist fuses life and work, a unique style emerges. For Michael this has been a decades-long journey of spiritual exploration and study, personal loss and self-discovery. He is a student of Shamanism, a gardener, mentor, musician, drum maker and photographer.
