My name is Sally Porter. I live in central Ohio, in the USA, with my husband Greg. We have an adult son, Preston, who is an excellent musical artist.
I paint in a style I call meta expressionism. I was first drawn to painting in the fifth grade, when I saw the work of Vincent Van Gogh. His amazing brushstrokes and the emotive portrayals of his landscapes, flowers and portraits captivated me. I wanted to paint like him. Through his art, I experienced the power of painting to make an emotional connection with the viewer. I create art to make my inner reality an outward expression to be shared by others. Emotion, pattern, color and brushstroke are all elements I explore. I also include symbols,
and iconography that are personally significant to me.
By experiencing my art, you share the creative moment. Good art is stimulating and refreshing, This is a goal of my work, to externalize an inner or hidden reality of our emotionally charged existence for the viewer to examine, partake in and experience.
I have a BA in Business Administration from Otterbein University. I studied painting and drawing at The Ohio State University. My work is in private collections in the United States.
