What Is Rule 11?

The rules have been updated with termporary changes to rule 11 but I don't see a rule 11.

Edit: I see it now, in a later post. Wouldn't it make sense to amend the original post with rules 11 and 12?

I have not amended a rule 11 or 12

Abbie Shores

That was 3 months ago!

The rules were rewritten since then to make them easier.... remember? we had about 20 and they went on and on.....

so I rewrote them a couple of months ago

David King

Okay, apparently it was three months ago when you did but for some reason the discussion went back to the top just now, at least for me.

Shouldn't 11 and 12 be added to the list in the OP for clarity? Also 11 and 12 seem to overlap partially.

David King

I see now, rules 11 and 12 are basically rule 10 now. Maybe you should delete the other posts then. I don't know why this discussion popped up to the top of the page but it really confused me.

Abbie,

I am beginning to miss the old rules.

i'm now confused...

i had a contract that read like that... as seen in section A and there was no section A - it was all numbers.

i guess 11 is the floater? its made up whenever there is something not on the list and thought of?

It popped up to make people remember the rules

and it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

David Bridburg

Mike,

11 was added five years ago. It was in the thread DK was referring to. It was no politics nor religion.

It is not a floater.

Dave

Kathleen Bishop

And yet religion seems to crop up frequently here. Just sayin...

Mike Savad

it reads 10 - then an added rule to 12. its like the invisible hidden floor in a building. or how some hotels skip floor or door 13.

Maybe need attached the rules under each thread for reminder...

We have rules?

Maybe that's why I got kicked out of 2 groups this week...

Mike,

Look at the thread going by posting dates, look five years back.

so it goes backward sort of?

1-10 then 12, then 11. its hard to follow that.

OK... religion is allowed AND politics if it is discussing ART

NOT if it is telling people how you vote or why they shouldn't the way they do

----------------------------------

Get over the numbers. It is the WORDING that counts. numbers are there just to break up paragraphs of DO NOT DO THIS. I thought the number looked pretty. I may even make them mulitcoloured

---------------------------------

Group admins make their own rules

----------------------------------

The rules are mentioned at the top of the index ALL the time. There is no excuse not to know the rules

Plus I mention them at least twice a day

Drew

I was thinking that if 11 and 12 = 10 then we could break 2 for 1. I guess if we just treated everyone with civility we would all be golden.

Ronald Walker

The history of art is strongly tied to religion and to an extent politics, as Abbie said as long as it is art related and not telling someone what to do or believe, go for it!

Mike Savad

maybe we should go with roman numerals... no one knows how to read those beyond 12.

I don't care what other people believe, I just don't want to hear about what they believe. I pay them the same courtesy.

Abbie Shores

That is why it is not allowed. But if you wish to talk about the Sistine Chapel then go for it as long as it is only about the art

Rules? Never read them or even looked at them... And look at me, I never get in trouble. :-) :-)

Create a bulleted list. Delete the numbers.*

Problems solved,. Comments, complaints and questions eliminated.

(* - also makes modification easier. No renumbering necessary when something is added or deleted)

Bullets...

Don't we have a rule about using bullets ?

David Bridburg

I use five bullets in my bio/about.

My best reference letter of all time was in the bullet format. Beautiful letter.

Dave

CHERYL EMERSON ADAMS

I'm aiming for a more targeted approach.

It is a loaded question, though.

Abbie Shores

haha Im sure bullets are fine, if used with discretion

Kathleen Bishop

So when someone violates a bullet, are they told to go review Bullet Number X?

Abbie Shores

Very good point!

I could explain all the rules in their entirety and then we could have rule 6, subsection F

That could be fun

David Bridburg

LOL we have very different ideas on "fun".

Not that I was ever in real estate.

Abbie,

Seriously it is an excellent beautiful photo.

I just more and more saw my "clear" photo as that of a sales person.

Dave

David King

Good idea Abbie, I changed mine. Back to an old truck like the avatar I had when I started.

You know we are on many levels sales people, but how we conceptualize that can be very interesting.

Love the new avatar, Abbie! And very cute hair :)

Open mouth, insert foot, as far as calling her photo old anything! Abbie is not old. Her picture doesn't make her look old.

We weren't allowed to even say the word "old" (referring to people, even if they were old) when I was growing up. I can still hear my mom correcting me: "say mature, or senior... don't say old"... none of which applies to Abbie anyway :)

Don't the Brits say "old girl" referring to a beloved woman of any age? Or is it just in the classic movies I love to watch (from the 40s and 50s)?

Abbie Shores

Not so much now but I remember my Grandfather calling my Nana 'ol girl' once. She nearly snapped his head clear off

Accordind to Gibbs from NCIS Rule #11: When the job is done, walk away.
That can appy to an artist that when the painting is done leave it and don't keep changing or adding to it.

That is a most excellent rule
