Grids/instagram

Anyone having a problem with the GRIDS App for Instagram. I first used it free for about a week and then bought the product, got the license/key number and 2 weeks later, got a message when I go to open it, that says "UhOH! can't seem to find your license/key number, etc." And when I go to click on "contact me" the Sign On With Instagram pops up and before you can type in anything, disappears. I've contacted the vendor where I paid for this and they seem to think I need to contact GRIDS support, which I also have done a couple of times and no response.

Any suggestions or another Instagram App that allows uploading from the desktop?

Rich,

Can't say as I have any experience with Grids.

I use Windowed as in dot com for free. It is excellent.

I paid for Grids and it never seemed to work properly. So I switched to Windowed and I agree with David that it's excellent. And free!

Will look at it tomorrow!

I use grids and had a similar problem about 6 months ago. I contacted support and they said to download it again and it fixed the problem.I think I'll check out windowed as well.

Rich, I use a little trick I learned using Chrome. Open Instagram in Chrome and then hit F12, this puts you in the developer mode. Pick a smart phone from the little pull down from the top and now Chrome is basically a smart phone emulator. I sometimes have to hit the refresh button to get the "+" symbol to show up at the bottom though. I use to use Grambler to upload from W10 desktop, now I use Chrome with the F12 trick and it works great.

DK,

Thanks, that is by far the best yet.

Grids works fine for me.

Roy,

Will try support again, for the third time and see. When you downloaded this the second time, did it see your license/key?

DK,

Will try this and see how it works on Chrome, which is the browser I'm using for this post/FAA. IDEALLY, would like to get GRIDS to work, since I paid for it.....

Edward,

How long have you been using this GRIDS?

Rich,

DK's method only takes a moment to master. It is the actually thing all these other programs are built upon, but DK's method is complete as if in the a cellphone. The other tools are not complete.

I also use developer mode on my PC.

I got that, but a simple reinstall made it work again!

It is a very useful app alright!

Roy,

Un-installed and then re-installed, newer version and seems to work. Can't seem to find if this is a free 10 trial or they recognize my sign in and then the key number. Will try a few uploads.

Will keep that "developer thingie" on the shelf, for next time.

Cynthia, HOPEFULLY won't need to learn this "developer" thing that you speak of....LOL!

Jack,

Yes, after switching to the GRIDS App, even thinking of going back to the phone method gives me a headache!

Byt the way, folks, here's my Instagram location: rich.franco.5

Is there a way now to change that to like .photo? Or do I need to start another new account?

Rich,

The developer thing is F12......while in IG on your desktop.....then click the second icon from left to right at the very top for the cellphone....done.

It has complete functionality. The others do not.

Cynthia and DK,

When in developer mode, how do I copy and paste hashtags in an older post to use in a new post?

Thanks in advance,

I have no idea, that's not something I ever do.

Still looking for a solution to comment management on the computer, it's so clunky and slow on the phone. Developer mode doesn't help, either.

Anyone found a site or computer app that gives the same functionality as the app on the phone?

Joseph, I have no idea how it works on the phone, the Chrome F12 trick doesn't quite work because it doesn't mimic swiping for some reason, I only use that to upload. However the W10 app from the Microsoft Store seems to have good comment functionality, whether it's as good as the phone I have no idea.

Joseph,

It seems that people have suggested "windowed"

http://windowed.io/

Which is free and I would have used this other than buying GRIDS for $10, which, now that it's working, I like......

I have no idea what the full functionality of Instagram is supposed to be if you were to use it on a smartphone...I never had a smartphone, so I guess I am not aware of what I am missing. I probably couldn't figure it out anyway. I use Gramblr on my computer with Windows. I normally always use Firefox for my browser, but I must have set up my desktop link to Grambr on Chrome for one reason or another that I can not recall. I have to download the Gramblr program for Windows every single time, run it, and then log in, so it takes a few clicks. I tried the "developer mode" f12 trick mentioned above after opening Instagram on Chrome...I am not computer savvy enough to make any sense of it though. I could not make any sense of Grids either...never got it to work once. I will stick with Grambler. That works good enough for me...and the ONLY method that I ever got to work..

Bruce,

Welcome fellow traveler! I'm not that good either with stuff like that and "f12" trick MIGHT work, but if I screwed something up, never could fix it, so GRIDS is fine with me and then the "windowed" app looks as good and free. These allow you to upload images to Instagram from your desktop or laptop, where just a year or so ago, had to use your Smartphone ONLY!

I am back to Windowed. I have up some 90 posts. Most of them have 30 hashtags. I just want to copy and paste them into related artwork posts, updating only the title.

You can not with the emulator simply copy and paste anything.

Cheers, David. I'm on MacOS, however.

Rich, any idea how the comment functionality compares to the phone app?

Joseph,

No, not really, on that it implies that it has "all the functions" of other full Apps. Grids has a free 10-day trial and that's how I started, give it a try and see...I use GRIDS now and am sure I'm not using it fully, just to upload images and a description/hashtags.
