This is an Andean Condor, and it lives in the San Diego Zoo. Once near extinction, these birds were rescued and bred in the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, with the offspring then released back into their native habitat. This took several decades, but today they are once again plentiful in Venezuela and Colombia.
These condors are critical to their environment, as they are the "cleaning crew", meaning they search out and eat the carcasses of dead animals, helping to keep the areas they live in clean.
This particular one seems to telling me to move along...he was quite vocal.

I began shooting pictures around the age of 8 when my grandfather gave me my first camera. Eventually I talked him out of a 35mm camera (an old Argus) with a flash, a couple of lenses and a tripod. I was on my way. I still have all of those cameras and the tripod, all in working condition some 50+ years later! Around 2000 I purchased my first digital camera, but the early digital days were still not good for my preferred subjects. (landscapes, mountains, barns etc) Eventually I became friends with a fellow who was an editor of a car magazine, and when the opportunity came up I bought a used Canon Rebel from one of his stringers. Along with the camera came a couple of lenses and I put away my last film camera. In my collections here...
