This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

I have wanted this for my pro life bulletin board at my Catholic Church and I wasn’t disappointed. It is beautiful and it has so much meaning put in a picture. A picture speaks better then words and this picture says it all. Thanks
Artist's Description
Taken May 2016 in southeastern British Columbia, Canada, this image was captured looking south during a very intense Northern Lights event. At the time of the capture, I was puzzled by the strong, steady beam of light in the east that gradually moved across the sky. Upon uploading it to my computer, I was even more puzzled by the green blobs that appeared in several images. I couldn't figure out why a clean, high-quality lens could reflect light back into my images and ruin them. The images sat in my computer a year, until news broke of the latest celestial "discovery" of "Steve" by the science community. Named after a movie event, "Steve" is believed be a plume of gas which has been appearing in images taken by photographers across Canada. The green blobs, are what is called the "picket fence" and sometimes accompany "Steve".
Several images of the green picket fence were taken; the image taken 30 seconds after this photo, attracted much interest by the top aurora scientific c...

i read about Steve this week!
Joy McAdams replied:
Pretty cool stuff.. and on a personal level, what is really cool is that the top "Steve" researchers have taken note of the image taken 30 seconds after this one! I didn't know what to make of this image and it is clear the FAA community doesn't either..... but the science world is all over this!!
Robert Murray
Great image, and fascinating information. l/fv/tw
Joy McAdams replied:
Thank you for your wonderful support, Robert. The image I took 30 seconds after this, which shows the picket fence crossing the entire lake, has received a lot of attention from the top aurora researchers; they call it "very interesting" and "possibly an important picture" and hurriedly tagged their fellow watchers/scientists when it appeared on the fb AlbertaAuroraChasers site. It will be interesting to see if it is indeed important that or just another pretty picture. At any rate I am flattered by the their attention.

This is so interesting Joy. I will stay tuned to learn more about Steve. What an amazing capture. Just shows you that you need to be out there with your camera! Out here we have clouds or mist bore often than not.:). Well done!
Joy McAdams replied:
Thank you Inge. While this is not my strongest image, it is perhaps one of my most interesting and certainly one I am proud of. I was able to capture quite a few photos that evening showing different movements of the gas. Some of them include the green picket fence and some do not. I am sure we will be hearing considerably more about Steve in the years to come; the first images are just breaking now.
