The print is much darker in person. It looks like an underexposed photo and hard to make out any detail on the bottom half of the print. Paper quality is good. Fast shipping.
Artist's Description
I took the photographs of George myself, for a client in the Flintridge-La Canada area of Los Angeles - so you get a glimpse of some Los Angeles park landscape. What his person most wanted me to get in this portrait was the soft, welcoming look in his eyes that she'd see when he greeted her, and, from her response to the portrait, it seems like I must have succeeded.
About Eileen Hale
My Art Blog https://eileenadelehaleartblog.blogspot.com/ The two primary areas of my art have been: 1) my personal art, and 2) animal portraits (and sometimes human portraits) on commission. My personal art ranges from fairly pure abstract work - dynamic, restless and shifting, full of motion and emotion, in watercolor, oils and collage - to work that combines figurative, abstract/abstract expressionist and surrealist styles in the same painting, with a dreamlike mix of content. I love color and flow, and I think my work is energetic, and graceful and refined as well as boisterous, naive, playful and clumsy. My vision is to bring many viewpoints together, in a harmony that is not too settled a harmony; I love the counterpoint as well as...

A P.S.: On the other hand, I can relax a lot more when I'm doing watercolor pieces like the surreal ones (e.g. Dusk Moonlicks), as I feel free to do anything I want with them. By the way, I'm not sure what the arrangement is exactly, with this NC gallery... Must talk to them about it. They asked, & I said yes without really finding out how it works. Congrats on your sale!

Thank you for the compliment! I didn't used to think watercolor was all that hard - even as I was doing it - but the more portraits I've done in watercolor, and the more in oil, the more I've become conscious of how tense I sometimes get working in watercolor, and then I feel myself relaxing when I work in oil.

Hi, Eileen, Thank you for your comment on "Head Stall". I had such a fun time doing this painting. It is actually painted on top with Galkyd - something I am not sure I will do again unless it is on a wooden panel. Galkdy tends to pool on canvases that are not extremely taut. This painting sold in Charlotte. I see you are in a gallery in NC. Your work is lovely - watercolor, I believe, is the most difficult medium.

Your appreciation and support means a lot to me - thank you! It's wonderful to know that someone out there is really looking closely, and enjoying what I do. I love playing with the colors, and the shimmer, and seeing how it begins to add up to George's round barrel, and the shape of the rest of him. For anyone else who reads this, if you haven't looked at Barbara's art, I find it well worth some long looks, and most enjoyable.
