Artist's Description
The Zebra Finch (Taeniopygia guttata castanotis) will nest in nearly anything they can fit their tiny bodies into. This young male is a resident at the Butterfly Rainforest exhibit at Florida Museum of Natural History. The males learn their songs from other adult males, usually the ones that feed them. Once the young finch learns to mimic the older birds, he will add notes to create a song of his own.
About Sean Green
I was born in Lafayette Louisiana and moved around the United States frequently as the child of a Navy Submariner. Much of my early life, was spent in San Diego and I suspect was instrumental in the development of my passion for Art and Science. When asked as a child what I was going to be when I grew up, my answer was always " I'm gonna be either an Artist or a Scientist". Later in life, I discovered the work of Leonardo da Vinci, one of the greatest painters and thinkers of all time, and more importantly, inspiration that my two greatest interests (Art and Science) need not be mutually exclusive.
