I absolutely love this photo of Hazel. My first visit to the Smoky Mountains was in April 2017. I have been searching for a black bear photo for years and this one stole my heart. This beautiful girl was photographed the same year. I am very pleased with the canvas print!!

Great canvas and framing. A decent shipping time, and EXCEPTIONAL safe packaging. Just an appropriate image for my viewing/listening room. Just took the speaker grills off for this photo.
Artist's Description
This is the third painting in my "Ships That Never Were" series. It depicts the British, Flower Class corvette "HMS Compass Rose" protecting an allied convoy during the early years of World War II. She and her crew are the subject of Nicholas Monsarrat's finest novel: "The Cruel Sea" first published in 1951. The painting was selected to be shown at the American Society of Marine Artists Northeast Regional Exhibit from May 2008 until January 2009.
About Glenn Secrest
I'm a retired US Navy Captain and former business executive. While I have not had any academic training in painting, I've been privileged to work under the guidance of several of today's masters. I`ve also participated in workshops with internationally-known artists Tony Couch and Tom Lynch in the Carolinas; and Randall Scott, Larry Gerber, Charles Gruppe`and Hugh O`Neill in Florida. Having spent almost all of my life near or on the sea, my first love is marine subjects. Concentrating in oils and watercolors, my other interests are landscapes and still-lifes. Through frequent travel, both in...

What a wonderful honor to have your work shown at the American society of Marine Artists Northeast Regional Exhibit - so well deserving of that and more; this is so realistic and exceptional artwork which inspires and delights - congratulations!!!

The "Cruel Sea" is one of my favorite novels. Your painting captures the spirit of the ship in the story. Unlike the destroyers dodging about, HMS Compass Rose, unassuming in her weather beaten and rusted hull, plods along, faithfully doing her duty. A painting well done, sir.

This is breath taking, and warming a "old" navy hearth. Thanks for sharing this moment in time both historical and artistic.
