Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

I love the many, varied, and downright weird members of the pumpkin/squash/gourd family that ripen at this time of year. Looked at from a certain angle, this Aladdin Squash could be an Alien spacecraft. You never know what you are going to get from a packet of Aladdin Squash seeds :) I had a lot of fun with all of the rich oranges and greens.

I have drawn and painted all my life, but for many years, my "day job" was as a special education/science teacher of high school age students. Now I paint full time, primarily in watermedia. My favorite medium is transparent watercolor. I love the way the paper glows through layers of paint, and the way the paint has a mind of its own. Only with watercolor can you not assume that the paint will be obedient and stay where and as you put it. It is very much a living medium, that(on good days) cooperates with the painter to create art.
