This piece is very true to it's picture very defined. The cup itself is of fine quality as well. The story behind it was beautiful to read. When I look at it, it will take me back to the first time that I saw and read the story. Glad I took the time to purchase. No regrets!
The Victoria Theatre and Memorial Hall is one of the heritage buildings in Singapore, located in the civic district. It is a large building, which is actually a clock tower with buildings on either side, and with a corridor joining all of these. These were built in different time frames, with the first building being constructed in 1862 meant as a town hall and office buildings along with operas and drama, but in the next couple of decades, the offices moved out. In 1905, the next phase, the Victoria Memorial Hall was built, and in 1906, the construction of the 54 meter tall clocktower was completed.
The building saw a lot of activity during the second world war, where it served as a hospital for the time when Singapore was under the siege of the Japanese who were doing bombing runs, and after the war and the end of the Japanese occupation of Singapore, the hall served as the venue for trials of Japanese war crimes.
