Beautiful, it's like a photograph

I don't use anything to soften or diffuse the light source. You don't want anything to obscure the effect or (lightest light) on your subject. This painting is currently on exhibit at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. Click here to see a higher resolution image of this still life oil painting on my Website.

My still life's are all painted from life. I use a flood light set up with one source of light. I aim the light at a forty five degree angle in order to achieve a form lighting affect. I like to have at least seventy to seventy five percent of my subject exposed to the light. Twenty five to thirty percent of the still life objects are left in shadow.

Thanks for the complements!

I like your work. Do you work from life/photos or both? I curious about your lighting. Do you use natural or artificial? if it is artificial, do you soften the source?
Judith Espinoza
I agree! How perfect!
Dan Mills
Wow, this is a beautiful piece.
