Artist's Description
Carl Leick, the German born architect, designed many lighthouses for the U.S. Light Service. This one at Bandon, Oregon on the Coquille River as it meets the Pacific, is one of his most beautiful designs. One can see the light has fallen into some disrepair and, in fact, is no longer used as an active navigational aid. Nonetheless, it is loved and efforts are underway for restoration of the site.
I have painted this lovely lighthouse several times.
Every piece of art in my gallery is original; not scanned; not a photograph. Using only the computer mouse, I draw every line, add every bit of shading, highlights, blending, and refining to finish a piece. All of the art is started on a blank white page in Microsoft Paintbrush. The finishing process is done using Photoshop Elements.

Thanks Richard. My rendition of this lighthouse at Coquille is depicted with an older color scheme. The base has now been painted red. Not sure about the roof. Carl Leick designed many of the lighthouses on the West Coast. This was one of his finest.
